Problem: Discrete GPU always active
Discrete GPU is always active even when in Hybrid mode, and as a result, the battery drains too fast, resulting to around 35wh discharge rate.
Solution
- Click on
Start > Control Panel > Nvidia Control Panel
. - Click on the
Desktop menu > Display GPU Activity Icon
in Notification Area. - On the taskbar, in the right corner, there will be a new icon. Point your mouse over it and find out which application is using the dGPU
- Open Nvidia Control Panel
- Go to 3D settings -> Manage 3D settings
- Set the guilty app to use iGPU instead
- Alternative use Legion toolkit to find out which program is using the DGPU
- Download Legion Toolkit
- In the Homepage you can see Graphics section. Under the graphics Section check Discrete GPU category. Then press deactivate to unplug programs using the DGPU. Check the picture below for clarification.
